Endorsement Recognizes Her Leading the Fight for Family Farmers
Mexico, Missouri –Today, Farm Action Fund’s Rural Independence Initiative announced its endorsement of Representative Harriet Hageman for U.S. Senate. The Senate primary is August 18. The Rural Independence Initiative focuses on electing the best federal candidates, regardless of political affiliation, who support local farmers, rural America, and healthy food and challenge corporate monopolies. Farm Action Fund’s endorsement is due to her demonstrated leadership in challenging corporate consolidation and strengthening independent producers and communities.
Farm Action Fund President and fourth generation farmer Joe Maxwell said, “We are proud to give Rep. Harriet Hageman our endorsement for U.S. Senate because she has been a real leader and fighter for America’s independent ranchers and farmers. We applaud her record of fighting for grazing rights to increase our cattle herd sizes and championing Mandatory Country of Origin Labeling to ban corporate packers from being able to import cheap foreign meat and call it American. We urge Wyoming voters to give her the promotion she deserves.”
Farm Action Fund will organize, advocate, and invest in state-by-state efforts to:
- Fight for people over corporate power
- Break up corporate monopolies in agriculture and food systems
- Restore fair competition and transparent markets
- Support independent farmers, ranchers, and small businesses
- Rebuild resilient local economies
- Grow healthy food right here in America
