Proposition 12 continues to be controversial among pork producers. It prohibits the sale of pork in California from breeding pigs housed in conditions considered “cruel”. The U.S. Supreme court upheld prop 12 in 2023, and it took effect in 2024. But it has grown into one of the most divisive battles in modern agricultural policy. Rose Dunn has more in this week’s AgWeek cover story.
